A Michelin-starred restaurant occupying what was once William Wordsworth’s office in the centre of Ambleside. Run by brothers Ryan and Craig Blackburn, Old Stamp House serves a celebrated tasting menu that takes diners on a culinary journey around Cumbria.
What to Expect
Old Stamp House serves seasonal lunch and dinner menus inspired by Cumbria's food heritage. Dishes are created by Ryan Blackburn and built around local produce such as Solway dairy, Herdwick lamb, game, Morecambe Bay and Solway seafood, river fish and foraged ingredients.
The Food
The menus change with the seasons, so each visit shows a different side of Cumbrian cooking. The wine list is chosen by Ryan and Craig with their wine merchant, covering well regarded growing regions with plenty of good value bottles, and carries an AA Notable Wine List recognition.

Old Stamp House is on Church Street in the centre of Ambleside (LA22 0BU). Tables are booked through the reservations page on the website, as the restaurant cannot take reservations by email, or you can call 015394 32775. Gift vouchers are also available online.
