What to Expect
The signature dish is the shepherd’s pie, slowly braised Herdwick lamb topped with cheesy mash, and it’s worth the visit alone. The rest of the menu follows the same philosophy, familiar dishes made with exceptional local ingredients and real care. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious.

Everything is freshly made using produce from surrounding Lakeland farms. The menu is comfort food done properly, hearty, flavourful and generous. Beyond the famous shepherd’s pie, expect seasonal specials and homemade desserts. Honest, satisfying cooking in a warm, welcoming setting.

The Yan Bistro is at Broadrayne Farm, Grasmere (LA22 9RU). Open for dinner Wednesday to Sunday. Booking is recommended. On the A591 just north of Grasmere village. Free parking on-site.
