Tower Cottage | Far Sawrey | Windermere

Be king or queen of the castle in this uniquely charming Victorian folly with outstanding views of the surrounding countryside

Within walking distance of Far Sawrey, home to Beatrix Potter's Hill Top and good pubs, perched above the valley and providing views across to Lake Windermere and the fells on both shores, stands the large country house, Sawrey Knotts. Built in 1861 and once home to a Captain Dand, it is now a collection of beautifully converted apartments, each with its own character and charm.

Sitting high above Sawrey Knotts, looking down on all around is Tower Cottage. It looks like a castle but in truth is an old Victorian folly, complete with castellation. From up here, you feel like master of all you purvey, gazing over the panorama below – the local woods and hills, Windermere and the fells east and west of the lake. What a glorious spot for relaxing and enjoying life, hopefully while basking in sunshine!

Tower Cottage is a cottage with a difference. You'll find it hard to beat the views from its veranda or to match its central location, ideal for exploring the countryside around, making it great for couples, friends and families.
