Close to all the village amenities stands a slate built Victorian terrace, Dixon Ground. Perfectly positioned on the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, and on the foothills of the crags behind, these terraced cottages are ideal for walkers, cyclists, waterfalls seekers and outdoor lovers keen to get straight onto the fells.
Number 4 Dixon has been beautifully refurbished for 2026 to create a warm and welcoming home-from-home. The cottage is perfect for couples or small families, offering cosy yet comfortable accommodation in an ideal location.
Those with bigger groups however have numerous options for neighbouring accommodation, with Numbers 3, 2 and 1 also available. Number 3 Dixon Ground sleeps 6 guests across 3 bedrooms, Number 2 sleeps a further 4 guests and Number 1 sleeps up to 10 guests across 4 bedrooms, thus extending the sleeping capacity and allowing groups of up to 24 to be comfortably accommodated. Ideal for those big family get-togethers and celebrations.
Though centrally located, with a pub within rolling distance, the Dixon Ground Cottages are pleasantly peaceful. In essence Number 4 Dixon Ground would suit couples or small families looking to relax and enjoy the local area.
What to Expect
4 Dixon Ground sleeps four across two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and one with a double and a single. The living room has exposed beams and a large open fireplace, and the kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Bed linen, towels and initial logs for the fire are included.
Your Stay
The cottage sits on the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, so walks start from the door. Church Beck waterfalls are nearby in the village, and Coniston Water offers paddle boarding, kayaking and sailing from the boating centre. There is an enclosed front garden with a gravelled terrace, plus a small enclosed space at the rear that suits pets.

4 Dixon Ground is in Coniston village (LA21 8HQ), with a pub about 50 yards away and shops and public transport around 500 yards.
